Black Lava Fields Visitor Center, Dimmuborgir, Iceland 2019

Description
The initial concept behind the project, steems from traditional Icelandic architecture. which comes from the beautiful frame of nature, an exhibition that reflect the history. meaning and the qualities of the landscape.
We use materials such as timber and turf in order to associate the Icelandic vernacular architecture (turf houses), also to provoke the feelings for the place.
The courtyard typology is an intriguing story of exchanging feelings that comes from sounds, smells and textures of the dark castles lava fields, lake Myvatn and Hverijall volcano.
